I don't trust him now but I voted for Senator Ping Lacson in the 2025 elections because of his strong statements against corruption. I remember one of his interviews with Ms. Alice Sotto where he said corruption in the current administration was already “lantaran.” That convinced me that he would stand firm against wrongdoing. However, after he won, his tone seems different. Watching the Blue Ribbon Committee hearings, it sometimes feels like the focus has been more on questioning the credibility of witnesses rather than allowing a full investigation to take place. Issues like the notary matter involving Orly Guteza and the decision not to allow Zaldy Co to testify virtually have raised questions for many observers. Now that 18 former personnel connected to him have come forward with allegations about delivering money to government officials, their statements are already being described as inconsistent. As committee chair, Senator Lacson carries the responsibility to ensure that investigations are fair, transparent, and open to all relevant testimonies and evidence. Determining whether statements are credible should come after a proper investigation, not before.
